Kitchen: Putting it together

Finally after months and months of waiting we got to see our kitchen come together. It was a long a windy road but the destination was well worth the wait.

The gyp rock was put up and the holes for the light fixtures put in place. The windows are all in place, but the frames and mouldings still need to be put up.

The cabinets arrived......finally. After ordering them in October they only started instillation in late February. We also got the kitchen painted a light sky blue, by Benjamin Moore, to go with the blue island.

We had organised the kitchen layout to have one wall devoted towards being a mini work station. A great place for the phone, computer and maybe to function as a drink station every once in a while.

The rest of the cabinets arrived and were promptly installed. So far so good!!!!
The Kholer sink is already to go in, however due to the weight of it we had to reinforce the sink cabinets to support 300 pounds.

My beautiful new fridge, out of the box and ready to be plugged in. The plumbers just need to connect a water pipe from the sink to the fridge for the water and ice dispenser.

The lights and sink are installed and the hood is about to take it's place above our future stove.

The formica counters are in and we love them. Our contractor and crew had never seen anything like it and kept staring at it. I was worried they would never get back to work.

The island arrived in all it's blue glory. While at first the colour took me a bit by surprise, but once it was in place it filled me with joy because I knew it was all going to turn out just as I had imagined. The marble counter was the finishing touch to my wonderful kitchen.
